iLap by Rain Design

I’ve been trying unsuccessfully to find the perfect laptop stand to use in bed and on my desk with an external monitor. I’ve bought several, only to discard them. I’ve tried the ones with the fans on the bottom, only to realize that the fans are pretty useless on the Macbook Pro because the vents are in the back along the hinge and not the bottom. I finally got the iLap by Rain Design.

Mac OSX Lion

Mac OSX Lion

Did you install Apple’s Lion yet? Naturally, being the Apple addict that I am, I downloaded it on the first day in the first hour that it was available in the App store. Everything went smoothly except the Launchpad had doubled my applications, but I found a solution for that by reading the Apple forums. My favorite feature is Mission Control. I seldom used Spaces in Snow Leopard, but I think MC is more user friendly. I like not having multiple windows cluttering my desktop. I also like Launchpad. I’ve reduced the applications in my doc to four: Safari, iCal, Mail, and Twitter. Finder, Mission Control and Launchpad, and Trash are also there, but they aren’t applications.

2011 MacBook Pro

Ordered a new 15 inch MacBook Pro today. I’ve been waiting for the new Sandy Bridge processors for quite awhile. I usually get a new computer every 2 years following Intel’s Tick-Tock schedule. I also chose the solid state drive. Can’t wait to see if it’s as fast as everyone says.

Snow Leopard

Mac OS X Snow Leopard

Mac OS X Snow Leopard

I just ordered Apple’s newest operating system. It’s called Snow Leopard , and Apple is sending it with no shipping cost and a promise to have it delivered this Friday (8/28/09), which is the day it becomes available in their retail stores. So, why fight the traffic and stand in line when you can just order it, stay home, and wait for it to be delivered! It’s a bargain, too, at only $29.00. A number of enhancements allows the OS to tap into the processing power of multiple CPU and graphics processing cores to boost software performance. In other words, it’s not just cosmetic changes, but actual improvements “under the hood”, which should allow for greater improvement. I guess we’ll find out.
