A Rose by any other name….

Whte and Pink Rose

White and Pink Rose

The photo of this rose was taken with my Canon macro lens, which is becoming my favorite lens. After all, you can always find interesting things for which to photograph anywhere. You don’t have to travel to exotic places. All you have to do is look around…and down. For another interesting site, I suggest Tiny Landscapes which is all about macro photography.

Ready To Fly

Taken with a Canon 70-300 f/4-5.6 L IS lens.

I took this photo today at Refugio Valley Park with a Canon 70-300 f/4-5.6L IS lens. It’s great to be able to get so close to the subject. This lens reaches further than any of my other lenses. I hope to take more photos this week-end.

Here’s another picture of my cat, Emma, taken with my Canon 50mm f/1.2L lens. I’m still learning how to use this lens. I like the bokehlicious background that this lens provides. If you aren’t familiar with the work bokeh, it is derived from a Japanese word that mean’s blur or haze. In photography when one […]

Pete The Parrot

by Sandy June 8, 2012 Photography

I Took a picture of my neighbor’s parrot today with a new 50mm f/1.2L lens. This is my first picture with this lens. I like it because it is light-weight and easy to carry around and has terrific bokeh, or soft background blur.

Stained Glass Macro

by Sandy June 2, 2012 Photography

I took some photos of some stained glass today. Actually, it’s a candle globe, but I thought it would be interesting. I posted two other views on Flickr. The differences in the photos depended on the aperture and the amount of light. I’m always looking for interesting items to photograph using the macro lens, or […]

Macro Lemon

by Sandy May 27, 2012 Photography

I’m experimenting again taking some macro shots. Using a full frame sensor is different than using a cropped sensor. Here’s a picture of a lemon slice in club soda. I found similar pictures on Flickr. My next experiment will be to drop a strawberry into water and film the splash.
