Happy Halloween

Hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween.  It’s great weather here for the kids out tonight. I was planning on going out, but may just stay home with a scary movie.

Garden of Evil by Edna Buchanan

Garden of Evil by Edna Buchanan

I just read this book, Garden of Evil, by Edna Buchanan. Although it was first published in 2000, I just discovered it. It keep me entertained at work, where I listen to books on my iPod, for a couple of days. It is about a female serial killer labeled as the “kiss me killer” and a newspaper journalist who she kidnaps and takes on a murder spree.

Jamie Foxx Movie

Law Abiding Citizen

Law Abiding Citizen

I went to see the new Jamie Foxx movie today, Law Abiding Citizen. It probably won’t get great reviews, but I enjoyed it anyway. It’s an implausible story with plenty of violence, but it’s entertaining just the same. Most of the viewers described it as an “edge of your seat” type of thriller with plenty of surprises. Capitalism: A Love Story

Capitalism: A Love Story

I saw the new Michael Moore movie, Capitalism: A Love Story. I knew I would be upset if I went to see it, and I wasn’t wrong. As you know the subject is about corporate dominance and it’s impact on ordinary Americans. One subject that he features is the mortgage loan fiasco of the past few years. He interviewed a former executive from Countrywide Financial Corp. who made a discounted loan to Sen. Christopher Dodd, chairman of the Senate banking committee, because he was a friend of the CEO of Countrywide. The film is very informative and engrossing, but not very hopeful. While people struggle, no one seems to be able to come up with any solution.
