Hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween. It’s great weather here for the kids out tonight. I was planning on going out, but may just stay home with a scary movie.

{I just read this book, Garden of Evil, by Edna Buchanan. Although it was first published in 2000, I just discovered it. It keep me entertained at work, where I listen to books on my iPod, for a couple of days. It is about a female serial killer labeled as the “kiss me killer” and a newspaper journalist who she kidnaps and takes on a murder spree.
{I went to see the new Jamie Foxx movie today, Law Abiding Citizen. It probably won’t get great reviews, but I enjoyed it anyway. It’s an implausible story with plenty of violence, but it’s entertaining just the same. Most of the viewers described it as an “edge of your seat” type of thriller with plenty of surprises. If this type of movie appeals to you, and you have a couple of hours to spare, I’d recommend it.
{As I’ve written before, I’m currently taking an online Photoshop 2 class through a junior college. Our instructor hasn’t provided any videos, which makes it difficult to fully understand the assigned exercises. As an alternative, I’ve subscribed to Lynda.com which offers training for any software you can think of plus html, blogging, e-commerce, search engines and much more. There’s even a tutorial about how to use iTunes or your iPhone! Right now, though, I’m concentrating on Photoshop CS4, for which there are extensive videos available. » » »
{I saw the new Michael Moore movie, Capitalism: A Love Story. I knew I would be upset if I went to see it, and I wasn’t wrong. As you know the subject is about corporate dominance and it’s impact on ordinary Americans. One subject that he features is the mortgage loan fiasco of the past few years. He interviewed a former executive from Countrywide Financial Corp. who made a discounted loan to Sen. Christopher Dodd, chairman of the Senate banking committee, because he was a friend of the CEO of Countrywide. The film is very informative and engrossing, but not very hopeful. While people struggle, no one seems to be able to come up with any solution.
