Since the movie, Julie and Julia came out, there seems to be a renewed interest in Julia Child and her cooking show, The French Chef, which was on television from 1963 to 1973. I recently saw one of her videos on PBS, Elegance With Eggs. Not only did it bring back memories about watching her show when I was a teenager, but I tried the egg recipe made with cream and cheese, and it was delicious. You can find dvds of her show on the PBS site, which I plan on buying. Most of her recipes can be adapted to the low-carb lifestyle.

Do you ever wonder how some people can be so creative and design so many graphics? I have found the site of a wonderful designer with very unique wallpapers. The site is Vladstudio.com For a very reasonable price, you can become a member and download higher quality images, but there are plenty of free images offered as well. I particularly like the wallpaper clocks. These are wallpapers in various sizes that incorporate a clock into the design. All are very unique. The picture above just represents one of the many photographs on his site offered as wallpaper.
{Do you ever need a unique image but don’t have the time or inspiration to create it yourself? I found Fotolia which offers royalty free photos, vectors, and videos at very reasonable prices. For instance, the picture shown above was only $2.00. The designer is Destonian and $2.00 enables me to do just about anything I want to with it, except sell it or claim that I made it. I found that Fotolia is more reasonably priced than iStock Photo. Some of the vectors that I found on iStock were $15.00 as compared to only $2.00 on Fotolia.
{I just ordered Apple’s newest operating system. It’s called Snow Leopard , and Apple is sending it with no shipping cost and a promise to have it delivered this Friday (8/28/09), which is the day it becomes available in their retail stores. So, why fight the traffic and stand in line when you can just order it, stay home, and wait for it to be delivered! It’s a bargain, too, at only $29.00. A number of enhancements allows the OS to tap into the processing power of multiple CPU and graphics processing cores to boost software performance. In other words, it’s not just cosmetic changes, but actual improvements “under the hood”, which should allow for greater improvement. I guess we’ll find out.
{I’ve just started a new online Photoshop class and have been looking for another book about PS CS4. While browsing through Barnes and Noble, I found the book pictured above, Adobe Photoshop CS4 for Photographers, The Ultimate Workshop, by Jeff Schewe and Martin Evening. I haven’t heard of these authors before, but the book appears to have good readability and an excellent choice of photographs for examples.
